For Canadians who haven’t registered to vote yet, there’s still a chance to do so directly at polling stations in the upcoming federal byelections happening on Monday. Voters in Quebec’s Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, British Columbia, and Ontario will have the opportunity to select new Members of Parliament to represent them in Ottawa, filling the seats left vacant by former cabinet ministers in Vancouver and Toronto.
One of the key focal points will be the race in rural Quebec, where the Liberals and Bloc Quebecois are eager to compete against the Conservatives for a seat. Elections Canada has highlighted that eligible voters can easily register by providing proof of identity and address right before casting their ballot on election day. To streamline the process, unregistered individuals are advised to complete an online form, print a pre-filled registration certificate, and bring it along for quicker service at the polling stations.
To participate in these by-elections, voters must have resided in the ridings of Beaches–East York, Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, or North Vancouver–Capilano between July 26, 2026, and August 31, 2026.
