A 13-year-old was injured in Saint-Lambert, Quebec, on Friday afternoon when their electric scooter collided with a vehicle. The incident occurred near Dauphiné Street and Simard Boulevard, prompting the quick response of the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL).
Following the collision between the teenager and the vehicle, the injured party was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that the victim’s life is not at risk.
Local traffic has resumed its usual flow, and the accident site has been cleared. Investigation findings from the police suggest that neither alcohol consumption nor speeding played a role in the accident.
In light of this incident, it is important to note that the minimum age requirement for operating an electric scooter is 14 years old, a rule enforced by the SPAL. The police further emphasized safety measures for scooter riders, urging them to wear helmets, respect traffic rules, exercise caution at intersections and driveways, and refrain from distractions like using a cellphone while riding.
