Residents living near the railway tracks in Repentigny have been deeply affected by a train derailment that occurred on July 5. Nearly two months later, a community meeting was held at the Centre Laurent-Venne to address the aftermath of the incident and discuss future steps with local officials and Canadian National Railway (CN).
One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, shared his harrowing experience of trying to protect his nine-month-old daughter during the derailment. He vividly recalled the fear and chaos of the moment, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding his family in the face of potential danger.

Bloc Québécois MP Patrick Bonin has joined the residents in their call for enhanced rail-safety measures and increased transparency regarding maintenance and inspections.
