A man has been handed an 11.5-year prison sentence for his involvement in a drug trafficking ring spanning Chilliwack, Abbotsford, and Langley.
The investigation took off in April when Abbotsford Police Department officers spotted a known drug trafficker behind the wheel, despite being prohibited from driving. Upon apprehension, authorities discovered an assortment of drugs and a firearm in his possession.
In a subsequent operation on June 29, police executed search warrants at two locations in Abbotsford and one in Langley, resulting in three arrests. Firearms, suspected controlled substances including methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, vehicles, and $45,000 in cash were seized during the raids.
Tyler Missen, hailing from Langley, was charged with multiple drug trafficking and firearms offenses on July 2. Missen, who pleaded guilty while in custody, was handed his sentence on August 26. With time served taken into account, he still has over a decade of his sentence left to serve.
Cpl. Stephan Mendela emphasized the gravity of drug trafficking and firearm possession, stating, “This sentence underscores the severe repercussions of dealing with dangerous drugs and possessing firearms illegally.”
The collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies, including AbbyPD, Langley RCMP, and the Integrated Emergency Response Team, were crucial in the success of this investigation, noted the Chilliwack RCMP.
