Vancouver Police Chief Confirms Arrest of Officer for Fraud-Related Offences
Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai has officially confirmed the arrest of Constable Kalwinder Dosanjh on Thursday for alleged criminal activities, including multiple fraud-related offences. In a press statement, Rai disclosed that the investigation has identified 19 victims so far.
The Chief emphasized the extensive and meticulous nature of the investigation conducted by the VPD that led to Dosanjh’s arrest. Rai promptly took action by suspending Dosanjh from his duties.
According to Rai, the VPD received initial reports of Dosanjh’s alleged criminal activities in December 2023, with incidents spanning from 2017 to 2025. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, Rai has recommended to the Vancouver Police Board that Dosanjh be suspended without pay.
The Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner (OPCC) was notified at the beginning of the investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.
Dosanjh faces nine charges, including four counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000, and one count of breach of trust.
