Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge will implement a temporary change in maternity services over the Labour Day weekend due to a shortage of specialist staff.
Starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, and lasting until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, Fraser Health has announced a temporary diversion for maternity care at the hospital. This means expecting mothers who may need care during this period are advised to contact the Maternity Unit for guidance on where to seek assistance.
Fraser Health explained that the diversion is a result of a staffing shortfall of obstetrician-gynecologists at Ridge Meadows Hospital. While details about alternative care options have not been disclosed, the health authority assures that affected patients will receive proper direction when they reach out to the maternity unit.
