Prepare for Heavy Rain in Greater Montreal Area on Tuesday
Be ready for a wet day in the Greater Montreal area as Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) predicts rainfall totals ranging from 40 to 60 millimetres on Tuesday.
ECCC has issued a “yellow” rain advisory covering Montreal, Laval, and the Montérégie region. According to the advisory, the rain is expected to start in the morning and continue throughout the day. The forecast indicates that between 40 and 60 millimetres of rain could fall in the area.
The federal agency cautions that there may be water accumulation on roads and in low-lying areas, and visibility could be reduced at times due to the heavy rainfall.
The heavy rain is attributed to a “quasi-stationary” warm front linked to a low-pressure system moving south of the border, which is expected to bring bands of heavy rain to the region.
For the Estrie region, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement forecasting rainfall amounts of up to 30 to 50 millimetres.
