Montreal’s Young Bar Unveils Pro Bono Project Offering Free Legal Aid to Quebec Residents

The 47th Telephone Legal Clinic hosted by the Young Bar of Montreal (JBM) is set to provide valuable free legal assistance to Quebec residents this weekend. From Friday to Saturday, over 100 volunteer lawyers will be on call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., ready to offer guidance on various legal matters including employment, housing, immigration, family law, estates, and criminal justice.

This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by Quebec residents due to the increasing cost of living and limited access to legal aid. The service, which is both free and anonymous, is designed to help individuals better understand their rights and explore available options.

Jeanne Gagné, the president of the JBM, emphasized the importance of empowering individuals through legal knowledge, highlighting that every legal query represents a person’s quest for clarity and empowerment.

According to Marcel-Olivier Nadeau, President of the Bar of Quebec, the Telephone Legal Clinic plays a crucial role in enabling residents to comprehend and assert their rights effectively, marking the 47th consecutive edition of this impactful initiative.

To seek assistance, Quebec residents can reach out to the clinic by dialing 1-844-779-6232 during the operating hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday or Saturday.
