“British Columbia Kicks Off Voting: Conservatives’ Costed Platform Still Missing as Doerkson Declares Urgency”

British Columbians have already begun casting their votes as the B.C. Conservatives have yet to unveil their costed platform, with leader Lorne Doerkson assuring that it will be revealed very soon.

Doerkson mentioned that while he has reviewed the platform, he wants to ensure that the party does not make promises that cannot be kept. He previously stated that voters can expect a comprehensive plan from the Conservatives before the election on Oct. 24, even though advance polling is currently underway.

In contrast, the provincial New Democrats and Green Party have already disclosed their fully costed platforms this week.

During a campaign event in Port Moody, Doerkson reiterated the party’s intentions to construct a women’s and children’s hospital in Surrey, abandon the Massey Tunnel replacement in favor of a bridge, and reduce income taxes by up to $1,000 annually for most working British Columbians.

However, NDP Leader David Eby criticized the absence of a costed platform for around $5 billion in pledges, suggesting that the Conservatives are not transparent about their proposed cuts.

Eby accused the Conservatives of intending to finance their promises through service reductions, a strategy he claims has been historically used by B.C. Conservative parties.

To address these concerns, Doerkson emphasized the importance of delivering on promises, citing instances where the NDP fell short on their commitments, resulting in a significant deficit.

He expressed his dedication to ensuring that the Conservative platform is carefully developed and accurately reflects their commitments to British Columbians.
