Canada’s Wonderland Rollercoasters Unexpectedly Shut Down, Reopening Date Uncertain

Canada’s Wonderland Announces Closure of Select Rollercoasters Following Safety Concerns

In response to a recent tragic incident at another amusement park owned by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, has decided to keep several rollercoasters closed indefinitely for safety reasons.

The decision, confirmed by Canada’s Wonderland President Christopher Mortensen in a recent update, is a precautionary measure following a fatal accident at Six Flags over Georgia in Mableton, Georgia. The closure includes popular rides such as Leviathan and Behemoth, similar to the attraction involved in the Georgia incident.

Mortensen emphasized the park’s commitment to safety, highlighting the rigorous inspection procedures in place for all their rides. He assured the public that their attractions undergo thorough daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections, and that their staff receives comprehensive training to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of the rides.

According to Canada’s Wonderland spokesperson Grace Peacock, there is currently no set timeline for when the closed rides will be reopened to the public.
