Two Men Charged After 127kg Cocaine Seizure at Windsor Border Crossing
Authorities at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) have taken action against two individuals following the interception of 127 kilograms of suspected cocaine at the Ambassador Bridge border crossing in Windsor, Ontario. The seizure occurred last month when a commercial truck arriving from the United States was flagged for a secondary examination on September 11.
According to the CBSA, officers uncovered the illicit substance hidden in the trailer of the truck with the assistance of a detector dog. Subsequently, a 61-year-old and a 41-year-old, both residents of Mississauga, were apprehended by CBSA officers and handed over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The suspects now face charges related to the importation and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, as levied by the Mounties. This incident marks another significant seizure in the region, with the CBSA’s southern Ontario division having confiscated a total of 1.67 metric tonnes of cocaine throughout the year.
The CBSA continues its efforts to combat drug trafficking across the country’s borders, aiming to safeguard communities from the dangers posed by illegal substances.
