Healthcare Takes Center Stage in British Columbia Election Race

Healthcare continues to be a major focus in the British Columbia election as the campaign nears its end. NDP Leader David Eby is set to make an important announcement at the construction site of Surrey Hospital in the heat of the election battle. This comes just after revealing a $30-million expansion plan for Kelowna General Hospital.

Both the NDP and B.C. Conservatives are putting a strong emphasis on healthcare commitments as the final voting day approaches on Saturday. They have been promising the development of new urgent and primary care facilities across the province.

The B.C. Conservatives have raised concerns about the healthcare system, pointing out that 1.2 million residents in British Columbia do not have a family doctor.

Lorne Doerkson, the interim leader of the Conservative party, has been actively engaged in fundraising efforts as the campaign enters its final phase, with multiple events lined up to support their cause.

With advance voting ending today at 8 p.m., Elections BC reports that approximately 711,000 people have cast their votes during the first five days of early polling, showing a slight decrease of about 9% compared to the same period in the previous election.
