After months of being stranded in the Mille-Îles River near Terrebonne, a car was successfully retrieved from the water on Wednesday morning. Using a helicopter, authorities lifted the vehicle out of the river in a meticulously planned operation.
In a news release, authorities confirmed the success of the operation, stating that the car has been extracted from the river and will soon be transported to an impound lot for further assessment.
The collaborative effort involved the Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion Police Department and the Laval Police Department. The mission posed various challenges that were carefully navigated to ensure the safety of all personnel, the public, and nearby infrastructure, as highlighted by the police.
The car had been stuck in the river since March, and a previous attempt to remove it in July had been unsuccessful.
