Laval Police Arrest Two Suspects in Crime Spree Across Montreal Region
Laval police announced on Wednesday the arrest of two individuals involved in a series of break-ins targeting pharmacies, eyewear shops, and a Sephora store in the Greater Montreal area.
According to investigators, the suspects are believed to be responsible for a string of incidents reported in Montreal, Longueuil, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Saint-Jérôme, Terrebonne, and Saint-Eustache since September.
The stolen goods and damages from these thefts amount to nearly $500,000 in losses and approximately $75,000 in property damage, as stated in a press release by SPL.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized stolen merchandise including perfume bottles, glasses, and tools used for burglaries. Additionally, two vehicles were confiscated as part of the investigation.
The joint effort, carried out by SPL investigators in partnership with the Terrebonne and Saint-Eustache police departments, targeted the suspects’ residences and vehicles.
Yesander Sarria Cespedes, 41, was taken into custody and remains detained, while a 60-year-old suspect was released under specific conditions after being arrested.
Both individuals are facing charges related to breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, and property damage, according to the police.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a third suspect, a 34-year-old individual who was not present during the operation.
