Canadian Authorities Seize Cocaine Hidden in Frozen Fruit Shipment
The Canada Border Services Agency made a significant bust when they discovered over 26 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a shipping container carrying frozen fruit from Colombia in October. The illicit drugs were uncovered at the Tsawwassen Container Examination Facility on October 31st.
Utilizing their expertise and detector dogs, officers unearthed 23 bricks of cocaine cleverly hidden in the ceiling of the container, which was falsely declared as a shipment of frozen fruit. The seized drugs have been handed over to the RCMP’s drug and organized crime investigators for further action.
Throughout the year, the border agency has been vigilant, making over 10,000 narcotic seizures, including a substantial haul of more than 700 kilograms of cocaine between January and October alone. Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by drug cartels that are continuously attempting to breach Canada’s borders.
