Early Friday morning, a fire erupted at the Value Lodge Motel in Nanaimo, leading to seven individuals being hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, according to BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
The incident occurred on Nicol Street near Woodhouse, prompting the swift response of emergency crews just before 3 a.m. BCEHS reported that six ambulances were dispatched to the scene, with paramedics offering immediate medical care and transporting the affected individuals to hospitals for treatment.
In response to the fire, the Value Lodge Motel has indefinitely closed its doors for damage assessment. The motel expressed its primary concern for the well-being of its guests who were present during the incident, assuring that they are collaborating with local authorities and relief organizations to ensure safety and aid for everyone affected.
