Late on Sunday night in Vieux-Longueuil, a neighborhood on Montreal’s South Shore, two men were injured in a shooting incident that police are now investigating as a suspected murder attempt.
Authorities from the police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) responded to a call reporting gunshots at an apartment on Beauregard Street. The two men, both in their thirties, were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment of their gunshot wounds. Fortunately, the police have confirmed that the injuries suffered by the victims are not life-threatening.
At the scene, a 26-year-old suspect was apprehended and is currently in custody, awaiting interrogation by the investigating team.
Police have disclosed that the victims were not chosen randomly and were already known to law enforcement. As the investigation into the shooting incident unfolds, officers remained on-site on Monday morning to gather more details on the circumstances surrounding the crime.
