Travel Disruptions in Montreal Due to Winter Weather
Winter weather in Montreal is causing significant travel disruptions as icy conditions are leading to delays at the airport and interruptions on public transit. Environment Canada has issued warnings for freezing rain and ice pellets, with forecasts predicting 5 to 15 millimetres of ice buildup. The challenging conditions are expected to persist throughout the day before transitioning to a mix of snow and rain later on.
At Montréal–Trudeau International Airport, delays are mounting with 106 flights delayed and 18 cancelled as of 8:44 a.m., primarily due to weather-related issues. Additionally, commuters faced disruptions with the REM service between Deux-Montagnes and Bois-Franc being temporarily halted, prompting passengers to seek alternative routes.
Travelers are urged to plan ahead and allocate extra time for their journeys as dangerous conditions prevail across the region.
