A woman from Canada has been charged in the United States for allegedly assaulting a border agent in Washington state.
The accused is charged with assault on a federal officer and improper entry following the incident that occurred on Tuesday.
According to U.S. district court documents, the FBI claims that the woman was turned away at the Peace Arch border crossing near Surrey, B.C., because she was in possession of a marijuana vape pen.
Subsequently, the accused was reportedly seen walking through a buffer zone at Peace Arch State Park where individuals from both nations can meet.
Border agents who responded to the scene stated that the woman used profanity, resisted arrest, and kicked a female supervisor in the face.
The FBI mentioned that the woman claimed she was at the park to meet her fiancé and retrieve their dog and did not intend to harm anyone.
She is set to appear in court later this month.
