The owner of a Denny’s eatery in Kamloops, British Columbia, has taken legal action against three former workers for reportedly embezzling a significant amount of tips.
Northland Properties Corp. initiated legal proceedings in the British Columbia Supreme Court recently, following the discovery of unauthorized digital transactions from the restaurant’s tip system.
According to the lawsuit, an investigation revealed more than $11,000 had been diverted to one of the defendants’ accounts. It is alleged that this individual confessed to collaborating with a former supervisor to orchestrate the theft.
The legal document states that during an audit, it was uncovered that the former Denny’s employee had access to records indicating that the ex-manager, who resigned in November 2025, had siphoned off substantial funds from the tip system, amounting to nearly $495,000 between 2023 and 2025.
In response to the incident, Northland’s legal action asserts that the matter was reported to the Kamloops Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), although there has been no immediate comment from the authorities on the case.
It is important to note that the claims made in the lawsuit have not been verified in court, and as of now, none of the accused parties have responded to the allegations. The lawsuit seeks restitution for offenses including theft, breach of contract, and civil fraud.
