A dispute over a burger led to an assault charge for a man at a popular fast-food joint in Vancouver on Monday night. The Vancouver Police Department reported that a 23-year-old employee at Fatburger on Granville Street was allegedly punched in the face by a customer after refusing to give free bacon with the burger purchase around 7 p.m.
The incident escalated when the customer entered the kitchen area and attacked the cook, causing a serious facial injury that required medical attention. Another staff member pursued the assailant, who fled the scene but was apprehended by the police shortly after.
The BC Prosecution Service has formally charged a 24-year-old man with assault causing bodily harm in connection with the altercation. Court proceedings for the suspect are scheduled for Saturday.
