Police Uncover Gang Ties in Mysterious Fatal Fire in Surrey; Victim Identified

Authorities have revealed the identity of a young man whose body was found in a burning house in Surrey. Investigators suspect a possible connection to gang-related violence in the area.

The distressing discovery was made by firefighters responding to a blaze on 56 Avenue near 128 Street early Monday morning. Due to the dangerous conditions caused by the fire, search efforts had to be halted when the structure collapsed, as reported by the Surrey Fire Service.

Following further examination, law enforcement confirmed that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) had taken charge of the case, deeming the death as suspicious.

In a recent update, IHIT disclosed that the victim was Naseem Mohammed, a 27-year-old individual previously known to authorities and believed to have ties to the BC Gang Conflict.

IHIT is scheduled to host a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon to provide additional information regarding ongoing operations in Abbotsford and Surrey.
