A construction worker tragically passed away due to heatstroke in May, according to a recent report by CNESST.
The worker, a roofer, lost his life on May 14 while working on a house roof in Boucherville.
On the day of the incident, the temperature had risen to 27 degrees, making it feel like 30 degrees with the Humidex factor, as detailed by the CNESST.
Feeling unwell, weak, and confused, the worker sat down briefly on the roof. Upon standing up, he lost his balance and fell from a height of 5.15 meters.
The CNESST also highlighted a lack of planning and control of fall protection measures as a contributing factor. Although the worker had a harness, it was not secured to a fall arrest lanyard.
The Commission stressed that given the height of the house and the slope of the roof, proper fall protection measures were essential.
