Bombardier Boosts Expansion: Unveils Cutting-Edge Manufacturing Hub in Montreal

Bombardier to Construct New Manufacturing Center in Montreal

Bombardier has announced plans to build a cutting-edge 126,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Montreal, responding to the growing demand for its business aircraft. The facility, located in Dorval and set to open by the end of 2027, represents a significant investment of approximately $100 million as part of the company’s strategic efforts to enhance productivity.

Situated near Bombardier’s current facilities in western Montreal, the new center is expected to create numerous skilled job opportunities. To support this expansion, Quebec Economy Minister Christine Fréchette will unveil a $35 million repayable loan from an Investissement Québec program.

Fréchette emphasized that backing Bombardier’s facility expansion will not only yield substantial economic benefits for Quebec’s aerospace supply chain but also pave the way for the creation of hundreds of well-paid, skilled positions, bolstering the province’s expertise in the industry.

According to Bombardier’s President and CEO, Éric Martel, the decision to construct the new facility stems from the surge in international demand, prompting considerations to ramp up production rates and potentially hire additional workforce at the Dorval plant, where the Challenger 3500 business jet is currently manufactured. Martel had previously hinted at the need for investments to realize this growth plan.
