Montreal Prepares for Fourth Winter Snow Removal Operation
Montreal is gearing up for its fourth snow removal operation of the season, set to kick off Friday evening. Crews will be mobilized across all boroughs to clear the latest snowfall starting at 7 p.m.
With nearly 3,000 workers and 2,500 snow removal vehicles on the job, over 11,000 kilometers of city streets will be cleared to ensure safe and navigable road conditions. To accommodate this massive effort, the city is making available more than 8,200 parking spaces overnight from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., with parking restrictions lifted once the operation concludes.
Residents play a crucial role in facilitating the snow removal process by adhering to parking rules, keeping sidewalks unobstructed, and properly placing garbage bags and bins on their property. Motorists are encouraged to park parallel to the curb, maintaining a distance of about 30 centimeters, and folding in their mirrors to aid in the efficiency of the operations.
Furthermore, Montreal has introduced an enhanced version of its official mobile app, now named 311 Montréal, offering real-time tracking of snow removal activities. This free app allows users to receive alerts, access snow clearing maps, report issues like icy sidewalks or potholes, and locate towed vehicles.
