Four men have been arrested by York Regional Police (YRP) in connection with a string of residential break-ins that occurred over several months in Markham, Vaughan, and Richmond Hill. The investigation culminated in a dramatic scene where officers observed the suspects fleeing from a second-story window as they were being tracked from above.
According to investigators, the group is responsible for a total of 20 break-ins and the theft of more than $150,000 worth of property. The arrests took place on January 23 following a tip-off that the suspects, who had been under surveillance since October, were once again active in a Richmond Hill neighborhood.
During the operation, a white Toyota RAV4, previously linked to other break-ins, was spotted near Chiltern Hill. Aerial officers from Air2 witnessed the suspects exiting a second-floor window of a home and attempting to escape.
As the suspects tried to flee in the RAV4, ground officers intercepted them, leading to the successful arrest of all four individuals. Approximately $50,000 in stolen goods were found in the vehicle, with an additional $100,000 worth of stolen property recovered during a search of a residence connected to the suspects.
The individuals facing charges are Zurab Gogua, 39, from Vaughan; Muiedin Ziizadinov, 33, from Toronto; Irakli Khitarovi, 34, from Richmond Hill; and Gia Tchavtchavadze, 36, with no fixed address. The charges include multiple counts of break-and-enter, possession of stolen property, participation in a criminal organization, and possession of break-in tools.
The investigation, initiated in October 2025 following a break-in in Vaughan, revealed a pattern of criminal activity involving the same suspects and vehicle across various locations. The group targeted residential areas, often gaining entry through upper-floor windows and swiftly making off with valuable items.
York Regional Police are urging anyone with relevant information or additional surveillance footage to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
