Montreal Victoire honored its players bound for the 2026 Winter Olympics during a festive post-game ceremony at Place Bell following their final home match before the Olympic break against the Toronto Sceptres.
The event marked the last chance for fans to cheer on the team’s stars as they prepare for the upcoming women’s ice hockey tournament in Milano Cortina, running from Feb. 5 to 19. Team Canada will kick off their campaign against Finland on Feb. 5, with the gold medal game scheduled for Feb. 19.
A total of 18 Olympians from Montreal and Toronto, evenly split between the two teams, will represent multiple countries at the Games. Notably, 61 PWHL players, comprising about 30% of the league, have secured spots on Olympic rosters.
Five Montreal Victoire players will proudly represent Canada at the Olympics: captain Marie-Philip Poulin, goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens, forward Laura Stacey, and defenders Erin Ambrose and Kati Tabin, forming a blend of seasoned leadership and emerging talent.
Expressing her excitement, Ambrose commented, “It’s pretty special, the group we have here in Montreal. Obviously representing our country, but also representing La Victoire. And I think for our group, there’s a lot of us going, which is really exciting, representing so many different countries. And then the five of us that are representing Canada, we’re all really excited and excited to represent our country very proudly.”
The ceremony served as a tribute to the players’ dedication and accomplishments, recognizing their hard work and looking forward to the challenges awaiting them in Italy.
