“Quebec’s New French-Language Music Hub Explodes with 220,000 Users in Its Inaugural Year!”

MUSIQC, a platform dedicated to showcasing French-language music from Quebec and beyond, has seen remarkable success with tens of thousands of users flocking to it since its launch almost a year ago. This surge in interest signals a growing appetite for French content among the public, as shared by the platform’s creator.

To mark its first anniversary, the Société professionnelle des auteurs, compositeurs du Québec et des artistes entrepreneurs (SPACQ-AE) has shared insights on MUSIQC’s traffic and content.

In the span of about a year, MUSIQC has attracted close to 225,000 users, with 65 percent returning to the platform regularly. The total visits have reached 540,000, exceeding expectations and delighting SPACQ-AE Executive Director Ariane Charbonneau.

Despite offering free access, the Quebec-based app, MUSIQC, doesn’t aim to compete with major music streaming platforms like Spotify or YouTube Music; instead, it acts as a storefront, showcasing French-language music that often struggles for visibility.

Charbonneau emphasizes the importance of supporting local artists and providing a platform for their music to reach a wider audience. She envisions MUSIQC as a gateway to discovering and appreciating French-language music that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The platform enables easy access to a diverse selection of French content without the need for registration, allowing users to seamlessly transition to their preferred streaming service. With integrated listening capabilities, users can stay on MUSIQC without interruption, accessing services like Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and more.

MUSIQC’s impact extends beyond its user base in Quebec and Canada, reaching audiences in the United States, France, Germany, and Belgium. Charbonneau notes the importance of promoting local music and fostering a sense of pride in Canadian and Francophone artists.

Looking ahead, SPACQ-AE aims to expand revenue streams and establish lasting financial partnerships to support MUSIQC’s growth. The platform’s international presence is set to grow, with initiatives in France and discussions underway with potential partners in Belgium and Africa.
