According to the Quebec Institute of Statistics, jobs predominantly held by women and individuals with university education face a higher risk of being impacted by artificial intelligence. The institute’s findings revealed that 71% of women’s jobs are in sectors highly vulnerable to AI, compared to 49% of men’s jobs.
This discrepancy is attributed to the prevalence of women in service-oriented roles and men in production-related positions. Additionally, professions requiring higher education levels are more susceptible to AI integration due to their emphasis on cognitive skills over manual labor.
Overall, the report indicates that in 2024, approximately 2.7 million jobs in Quebec are considered “highly exposed” to artificial intelligence, making up 59% of the total workforce.
