“Quebec Angler Shatters Records with Giant Halibut Catch for Science!”

In an impressive feat, a Quebec fisherman named Alain Hamel has made waves by breaking a record for catching the largest halibut ever from the stunning waters of the Saguenay Fjord. Hamel reeled in a massive female halibut that measured a whopping 2.05 meters in length and tipped the scales at a hefty 244 lbs.

According to the Fjord Museum, this remarkable catch marks a significant milestone in their scientific fishing program, standing as the largest halibut ever landed since the program’s inception. Hamel’s epic battle with the giant fish lasted a grueling two-and-a-half hours before he successfully brought it ashore.

Upon examination, it was discovered that the halibut had consumed crabs, shedding light on its feeding habits. This extraordinary ice fishing excursion was part of a broader scientific research initiative aimed at deepening our understanding of the halibut population within the fjord.

Expressing gratitude for the invaluable cooperation of all participating fishermen, the Fjord Museum took to Facebook to extend a heartfelt thanks for their collective contribution to expanding knowledge about these remarkable creatures.
