Snowfall to Disrupt Greater Montreal Evening Commute
Get ready for a snowy evening in Greater Montreal as Environment Canada predicts challenging road conditions for Tuesday’s commute. The federal weather agency has issued a yellow weather advisory, warning residents of Montreal and nearby areas about the potential winter road hazards.
Snowfall is anticipated to start around the evening rush hour and could accumulate up to 10 centimetres by late overnight hours. Environment Canada cautions that snowfall rates may reach up to two centimetres per hour, leading to reduced visibility and quickly deteriorating road conditions.
The rapid snow accumulation is expected to make roads slippery and create swiftly changing travel circumstances, posing challenges for commuters. This weather system is set to impact Ontario and the Outaouais region first, with special weather statements already in place on Tuesday morning.
In Ottawa-Gatineau, a snowfall of seven to 12 centimetres is expected, commencing later in the morning and persisting into the evening. Following its path through Greater Montreal, the system will continue eastward, reaching Quebec City in the evening and lingering into Wednesday morning.
Prepare for the winter weather conditions and plan your travels accordingly to ensure a safe commute amidst the snowy conditions.
