North Vancouver Traffic Stop Leads to Major Police Seizure of Drugs and Weapons

Two men were briefly detained by police after a vehicle search uncovered illicit drugs and weapons during a routine traffic stop.

The incident took place in North Vancouver around 6 a.m. near the intersection of Bewicke Avenue and 2nd Street West last Friday. Officers pulled over the vehicle due to the driver appearing to be slouched over in their seat.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, law enforcement discovered a cache of weapons, a significant amount of illegal drugs, and a body armor carrier.

Both the driver and a passenger were taken into custody for violations related to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Following their arrests, the individuals were later released, and the investigative process is ongoing.

Cpl. Mansoor Sahak emphasized the harmful impact of drug production and trafficking, stating, “The production and trafficking of drugs is not a victimless crime. We see its devastating effects daily. The number of potential lives saved as a result of this seizure is immeasurable.”

It was revealed that the two suspects are residents of Kamloops and are known to law enforcement. The case underscores the ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug activities in the region.
