Tragic Snowmobile Saturday in Quebec: Four Lives Claimed in Separate Crashes

Over the weekend, a series of tragic snowmobile accidents occurred in Quebec, prompting investigations by the provincial police force, Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

In the most recent incident on Saturday night, a 47-year-old man lost his life in Stanbridge East, Eastern Townships, after his snowmobile veered off the road into a ditch. Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he tragically passed away shortly after.

Earlier that evening in Saint-David-de-Falardeau, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, three snowmobilers fell into the frigid waters of Lac La Mothe while riding on the ice. While two individuals managed to escape, one snowmobiler remains missing, prompting a search operation by SQ divers.

Additionally, a fatal snowmobile accident in Hemmingford, Montérégie, claimed the life of a 47-year-old woman who collided with a tree while riding alone on trail number five.

The string of incidents began in Mont-Carmel, Bas-Saint-Laurent, where a 57-year-old snowmobiler tragically lost his life in a collision with a pickup truck on Route 287.

Throughout these unfortunate events, the SQ has been actively investigating each incident to determine the causes and prevent further tragedies.
