Global Outpouring of Support Floods Tiny Town of Tumbler Ridge

After the recent tragic mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, Wendy Trueit, a cook and co-owner of Twisted Seasons Bistro, felt compelled to take action. She began providing free meals to first responders and families affected by the tragedy.

Word quickly spread, reaching people from all over the world, including the U.S., Canada, and Europe, who offered support by pre-paying for meals. The outpouring of generosity resulted in thousands of dollars being raised to feed healthcare workers, paramedics, police officers, firefighters, and the bereaved.

The community also saw acts of kindness from strangers like Ted Ember, who drove two hours to deliver flowers as a gesture of solidarity. Additionally, GoFundMe pages for the victims collectively raised over a million dollars in support.

Despite the darkness of the recent events, these selfless acts have brought a glimmer of light to Tumbler Ridge. Trueit remains committed to providing free meals for as long as needed, with the support of organizations like Northern Health and a Vancouver school offering to cover meal costs.

In the midst of tragedy, the kindness of strangers reminds us of the positivity that exists in the world.
