Brampton neighbourhood on edge after homes, cars riddled with bullets

Peel Regional Police (PRP) are investigating after two residences and three vehicles were shot at in Brampton early Monday morning, prompting a wave of community concern in the neighbourhood.

Officers were called to the Spadina Road and Royal Orchard Drive area at around 2:41 a.m. Upon arrival, they found evidence of gunfire.

Police say at least one suspect fled towards Bovaird Drive in a light-coloured four-door sedan.

No injuries were reported.

“My neighbour’s house, two houses up, was also shot up. And the car over there,” said homeowner Robert Thomas, who brought CityNews cameras inside his home to show the extent of the damage. “My wife, right now, if I call her, is probably in tears. She’s very emotional.”

Thomas tells CityNews that a bullet went through his front door. He eventually noticed bullet holes also scattered across his garage door, and a car parked in his driveway.

In an afternoon update, Peel Regional Police Const. Mandeep Khatra says there’s no known motive at this time, but believes it is an “isolated incident,” adding that at this point there are no apparent links to the tow truck industry or extortion.

“There were multiple residences that were shot at,” Const. Khatra noted. “Two residences were shot at; At least three vehicles in the area were also shot at.”

The investigation is ongoing.
