If you need gas, experts say Friday’s the day to fill up.
Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst at EnPro, says the price at the pump in Metro Vancouver is about to jump by around eight cents per litre Saturday.
Gas prices have been increasing around the globe since the onset of the U.S. and Israel’s attacks on Iran and disruptions to traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a major gateway for oil and gas exports.
After climbing to approximately $2.14 per litre in Metro Vancouver, the price plummeted by 5 per cent overnight Wednesday.
As of Friday morning, some Vancouver stations are advertising as low as $1.96 per litre.
Experts have also noted the price of diesel fuel reaching skirting record highs.
The volatility has been attributed to the unpredictability of the actions of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.
McKnight says it would be “premature conjecture” to predict the price on Sunday.
