Gas prices have once again topped the $2-per-litre mark at several stations across the Greater Montreal area.
Early Friday, a number of stations were posting prices above 200 cents per litre, including locations on Parc Ave. in Montreal and Jacques-Cartier Blvd. in Longueuil at 202.9 cents, as well as a station on Le Corbusier Blvd. in Laval at 203.9 cents.
Some stations were charging even more, with prices reaching as high as 205.0 cents per litre at a location on Soucy Street in Longueuil.
Despite the increase, not all stations have crossed the $2 threshold. Prices at some locations remain below that mark, including stations on de la Côte-des-Neiges Road at 191.9 cents, Pierrefonds Blvd. at 199.9 cents, and Viau Blvd. at 194.9 cents.
The price fluctuations come as Ottawa moves to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax in an effort to ease pressure on drivers amid rising fuel costs linked to the conflict involving Iran.
