In celebration of International Youth Day, the Interjeunes Coalition launched a youth engagement tour called “No Youth Politics Without Young People” in French. The tour began in Montreal on Wednesday outside the offices of the organization Dans la rue.
As the upcoming election campaign looms, young individuals are urging political parties to pay attention to issues that directly impact them and ensure these concerns are integrated into the upcoming public platforms.
The tour aims to raise awareness about these youth-centric issues and will journey to Quebec City and another city before Election Day on Oct. 5.
This initiative focuses on four key goals: centering young people’s priorities in public discussions, fostering direct conversations between youth and candidates, emphasizing the necessity of genuine youth involvement in policy-making, and advocating for continuous attention to youth matters during the campaign.
The inspiration for this tour stemmed from the Grande Consultation Jeunesse (GJC) held in April by the Interjeunes Coalition, an alliance of over 450 independent youth community organizations operating across Quebec’s 17 regions.
