Agreement between doctors, province signed, B.C. government says

The B.C. government and the association representing the province’s doctors have renewed a four-year agreement.

Doctors of BC members voted 91.8 per cent in favour of the renewed Physician Main Agreement, which offers $100 million in new funding to be used to address workload issues.

The agreement comes as a result of “strong collaboration,” said Doctors of BC president Dr. Adam Thompson.

“Our health care system is under enormous strain, and this agreement will help support doctors in delivering the best possible care,” Thompson said.

“Doctors of BC is committed to working with the Ministry of Health to address pressures in the health-care system and ensure that it is adaptive and responsive to the needs of British Columbians across the province.”

This comes just weeks after the BC College of Family Physicians (BCCFP) appealed to the provincial government to improve primary care conditions and streamline systems to reduce paperwork through digital improvement.
