Montreal police arrest suspect in nightclub shooting

Montreal Police (SPVM) arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with a shooting in a nightclub on Saint-Laurent Boulevard last month. Two innocent victims were injured in the legs by gunfire.

The 27-year-old man was arrested in Saint-Leonard. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

“An investigation file has been submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, who will determine the charge(s),” SPVM said in press release.

On Saturday, May 9, at around 3 a.m., a conflict broke out between people inside Club École Privée on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, near Milton Street, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough. It was then that a shot was fired.

Two women, aged 19 and 25, who were in no way involved in the conflict, were hit in the legs by a firearm projectile. A tall suspect wearing dark clothing was then seen fleeing on foot. The two victims were transported to a hospital, but survived.
