Kawhi Leonard, the former Toronto Raptors player and potential future returnee, made a special appearance at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers in Toronto. The basketball star wasn’t just there to enjoy the tennis action – he also took the opportunity to meet rising tennis sensation Coco Gauff, who advanced to the semifinals after an opponent’s withdrawal due to injury.
This marked Leonard’s first public appearance in Toronto since a proposed trade back to the Raptors from the Los Angeles Clippers was put on hold due to ongoing investigations into salary cap circumvention allegations during contract negotiations in 2024. The trade deal, when finalized, will involve Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and multiple draft picks heading to the Clippers in exchange for Leonard.
