Toronto Tempo looking to set WNBA attendance record with 2 games at Montreal’s Bell Centre

The WNBA is getting ready to take place at Montreal’s Bell Centre, when Canada’s only team, the Toronto Tempo, will be in town for a pair of games.

With the Bell Centre having a capacity of over 22,000, Montreal could set a new league attendance record, which currently sits at 22,076 for a playoff game and 20,711 for a regular season game.

“Playing two games in Montreal this summer is a huge moment for the Tempo and for basketball in Canada,” said Tempo President Teresa Resch. “From the beginning, we’ve said we want to be Canada’s team, and bringing the WNBA to Montreal is an important part of that vision. There is such a strong and passionate basketball community in Quebec, and we’re excited to connect with fans there in a meaningful way. We can’t wait to experience the energy inside the Bell Centre and continue growing the game across the country together.”

On top of the games, Montrealers can participate in festivities surrounding the game, which will include a girls’ 3-on-3 tournament presented by Canadian Tire featuring teams from Montreal and Quebec City, and on July 11th, Tempo players will also be on hand for signatures.

The Tempo will take on the Dallas Wings on July 10 — tickets here — before taking on the New York Liberty on July 12 — tickets here. Both are part of the Cross-Canada Series.
