Céline Dion unveils new song ‘Bonjour, Pardon, Merci’

Quebec diva Céline Dion unveiled a new song on Friday titled “Bonjour, Pardon, Merci,” her second new track in just a few months.

In April, the singer released the song “Dansons,” shortly after announcing her highly anticipated return to the stage in Paris.

“Bonjour, Pardon, Merci” was written and composed by French singer-songwriter Ycare. The track was produced by Renaud Rebillaud.

“I heard about Ho’oponopono, that Hawaiian prayer that involves saying every morning, ‘Forgive me, thank you, and I love you,” facing the ocean, as if we were laying down our invisible burdens. I then thought about the hardships each of us might endure. So I began writing words of resilience and gratitude, accompanied by my guitar,” Ycare explained in a statement released on Friday.

Dion is set to begin a residency at the Paris La Défense Arena on Sept. 12. She will perform 16 shows spanning through October.

In early June, the artist announced ten new concert dates at the same venue, in May 2027. The Parisian concert hall can accommodate nearly 40,000 spectators.

Her return to the stage will take place nearly two years after her memorable performance of Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” from the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

In 2022, Dion was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare condition that causes muscle stiffness and spasms, affecting her ability to walk and sing.

She has been absent from the stage since 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic led to the postponement of her “Courage” tour. The singer subsequently suspended her activities following her diagnosis.
