Transport Canada Seizes Vessel Involved in Deadly British Columbia Sinking

A fishing charter boat owned by Top Vancouver Fishing Charter in British Columbia has been detained by Transport Canada following a tragic incident last month. The detention order, dated Thursday, is visibly posted on the window of the 37-foot boat, which is the sister vessel of the one that sank in the Strait of Georgia near Vancouver on June 28, resulting in one fatality and six people missing and presumed drowned.

Transport Canada’s order cites various safety violations and deficiencies for detaining the vessel, such as operating a pleasure craft as a commercial passenger vessel and improper registration and markings.
