The AHL’s Laval Rocket Welcomes New Head Coach
The Montreal Canadiens made a significant announcement on Monday, revealing that Daniel Jacob has been appointed as the new head coach of the Laval Rocket, the AHL team affiliated with the Canadiens.
Daniel Jacob, who previously served as an assistant coach, has now stepped into the role of head coach, taking over from Pascal Vincent, who departed to join the coaching staff of the Seattle Kraken.
Rocket’s general manager, John Sedgwick, praised Jacob for his dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to player development. Sedgwick highlighted Jacob’s strong communication skills and proven ability to enhance players’ skills on the ice.
Having worked with the Laval Rocket for the past two seasons, Jacob, 45, was responsible for coaching the team’s defensemen and overseeing the penalty kill strategy. His coaching experience also includes stints with teams such as the San Diego Gulls, Syracuse Crunch, Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL, and McGill University.
This appointment marks a milestone in Jacob’s coaching career as he takes on his first head coaching role with the Rocket. A native of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Jacob brings a wealth of experience from his playing days in various hockey leagues, including the Canadian university system, the QMJHL, AHL, and professional hockey in Austria.
