Burnaby RCMP Launch Intense Investigation into Reports of Sexual Assault and Suspicious Activity

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is currently looking into a case of sexual assault that occurred near the Royal Oak SkyTrain Station in Burnaby last week.

According to authorities, a woman was walking alone late in the evening on July 9 when she was suddenly grabbed from behind. An altercation ensued, during which the victim fought back and shouted, causing the assailant to back off.

Approximately thirty minutes later, a separate incident was reported involving a suspicious man outside a ground-floor apartment in the same vicinity. While it is not confirmed if the two incidents are connected, Cpl. Mike Kalanj urged any witnesses to come forward to aid in the investigation.

Police are actively seeking video footage from residents in the area and are asking anyone with relevant information or video recordings to reach out to assist in the case.

Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries from either incident.
