A recent incident unfolded on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Colwood, where a single-vehicle collision near the Carindale intersection resulted in consequences for the driver. West Shore RCMP responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m. to find a Ford F-150 that had veered off the road, struck the shoulder, and overturned onto its side.
Emergency services freed the truck’s lone passenger, a 36-year-old man, who was then evaluated for injuries. However, during the assessment, law enforcement officers noticed signs of impairment and requested a breath sample from the driver.
The breath test revealed a “WARN” reading, leading to a three-day immediate roadside prohibition for the driver. Additionally, the uninsured vehicle was impounded, and the driver faced a violation ticket and a 90-day driving prohibition.
Cpl. Nancy Saggar, the Media Relations Officer for the West Shore RCMP, emphasized the dangers of impaired driving, stating that incidents like this serve as stark reminders of the risks involved when choosing to drive under the influence of alcohol.
