Ever dream of playing tennis against one of the world’s top competitors?
That’s what some young tennis players will get the chance to do ahead of the National Bank Open.
Aspiring tennis players from Rogers First Set in Quebec will hit the court at IGA Stadium with Montreal’s own Félix Auger-Aliassime Thursday afternoon.
The young athletes will play quick rallies and serve up challenges to Auger-Aliassime on a Rogers mini court ahead of the tournament in Montreal, where he will be seeded second – making him the highest-seeded Canadian in the tournament’s history.
Thursday’s event is a celebration of the 25-year-old Auger-Aliassime, who is a Team Rogers athlete, but also of the next generation of tennis talent.
There will be a special guest appearance by actor and Rogers ambassador Patrice Robitaille, who will share a “match point” moment with Auger-Aliassime.
Rogers First Set, Tennis Canada’s national participation program, is designed to introduce and engage youth in tennis.
The National Bank Open takes place from Aug. 1-13 in the hometown of the world’s fourth-ranked Auger-Aliassime.
