A man identified as Roshvin Crofton, a 24-year-old resident of Ajax, has been taken into custody and faces a series of charges related to an alleged arson incident that led to significant damage to several homes in the area.
The incident unfolded on August 24, when emergency services responded to a fire at an unoccupied residence in the vicinity of Rossland Road West and Church Street North. The blaze quickly spread to adjacent houses, resulting in extensive property damage.
Fortunately, the occupants of one of the neighboring homes managed to evacuate safely as the fire raged on. While multiple properties were found to have been doused in a flammable substance, they did not catch fire, as confirmed by police in a statement released on Wednesday.
Crofton was apprehended by authorities on Monday and now faces a total of 11 charges, which include arson, break and enter, causing damage to property exceeding $5,000, and violation of probation terms.
He was slated to make a court appearance the following day, with no further information disclosed at this time.
