Mississauga’s former mayor, Bonnie Crombie, has received a significant endorsement from the city’s fire fighters association in her bid to reclaim the mayoral seat. The association praised Crombie’s community safety plan, emphasizing its focus on strengthening emergency services, improving 911 response times, and investing in mental health support.
Chris Vacaroe, President of the Mississauga Fire Fighters Association, highlighted the importance of leadership and collaboration in ensuring community safety. He expressed confidence in Crombie’s ability to work alongside first responders, prioritize the safety of Mississauga residents, and support the needs of fire fighters.
Having previously served as Mississauga’s mayor from 2014 to 2024, Crombie pursued a political career at the provincial level but faced challenges in the 2025 Ontario general election. Despite these setbacks, Crombie remains committed to serving her community and has set her sights on reclaiming the mayor’s office, where she will compete against the incumbent mayor, Carolyn Parrish.
Expressing gratitude for the firefighters’ endorsement, Crombie emphasized the critical role of first responders in ensuring public safety. She pledged to listen to their concerns, advocate for their needs, and prioritize a safer Mississauga for all residents.
As the mayoral election approaches on Monday, October 26, 2026, the endorsement from the city’s fire fighters association solidifies Crombie’s commitment to community safety and collaboration with essential services.
